We Put The Word "Celebration" Back Into "Celebrity!"

Popstar.com runs a unique contest every year to determine who fans love the most that year. It's actually very easy to participate; fans write letters to their favorite stars at Popstar.com and the celebrity with the most letters at the end of the year is crowned the winner.

Fans can write to as many celebrities as they want to, one letter per celebrity each day. If you wish to participate, all you have to do is log in to your My.Popstar.com Account (if you don't have one, you can sign up for free) and click on the "Write a Letter" link located on any celebrity profile page.

As a reward to both the fans and the celebrities, we personally mail a copy of all of the letters we received for the top one hundred celebrities directly to them on a custom CD application created just for them. We give away a lot of prizes to the fans who write letters with such devotion, so be sure to check out the Contests section often.

Below are the official rules for posting to our celebrity profiles.

Rules for Comment Posting

The below rules are absolute; all comments must meet this criteria.

This is not your typical contest, and this is not your average comment form. Read this page in its entirety before posting any comments. If you post a comment without following the rules mentioned here, it will be removed, and your vote nor your comment will count toward anything.

Please remember that you are writing to a celebrity! If they win our contest, they will receive a copy of your message, so take the time to write something worth their time reading! Tell them why you admire them, mention some of their accomplishments, talk about how they have inspired you.

All comments must be substantive and original. When writing, just try to speak from your heart. Writing ten words does not qualify. Short, virtually meaningless comments just take up unnecessary space. They have no intrinsic value or meaning to them. Do not write the same thing more than once!

Do not mention what rank they are in, whether it be first or last, and don't mention where other celebrities currently are. Those comments won't be relevant at the end of the contest since a celebrity's placement is constantly changing. And don't tell others to vote within your comment.

Do not cast disparaging remarks toward other celebrities. Don't even mention them in your comment if you haven't anything nice to say. You're here to support your favorite celebrity, not to bash someone else's favorite. Show them the same level of respect you would want them to show you.

Do not create multiple accounts. You are able to leave a comment for your favorite celebrity once every single day. Trying to increase that number with multiple accounts will only result in all of your accounts being removed. We have ways of detecting and determining those who do this.

Guidelines for Comment Posting

Although not written in stone, these guidelines are given due weight in our approval process.

Don't make blanketed statements and leave it at that. If you think someone is amazing, don't just say, "You're amazing!" Tell us why you think they are amazing. Did they do something to make you feel that way? There's always a reason behind a feeling. Just try to express it.

Take advantage of the features of the editor. You can add pictures, links, and create colorful content. All of these things are acceptable and encouraged. Don't try to use HTML in the editor; it won't work. It'll just come out as text. Hover over the buttons to see what you can do.

Use proper case when constructing sentences. DO NOT TYPE IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS, or all lowercase letters, or a MiXtUrE of the two. That type of writing style is inappropriate for an important letter that will be shared not only with the visitors of this website, but also the celebrity.

Try to use proper grammar and don't use abbreviations. Type "you" instead of "u." This type of informal writing should be restricted to chat and forums, not letters of this sort. We also strongly discourage overusing exclamation points (!!!) or adding extra letters to words (reaaallly).

Do not use objectionable language. Swearing of any sort will not be tolerated. And don't cover up swear words by using random characters (s$#@). They are interpreted the same way by readers, and many visitors to our website are young enough that this type of language is not appropriate.

Be creative, but capture the spirit of these guidelines. Their purpose is to help create valuable, insightful content for readers who share an affinity with the same celebrity as you. These guidelines are not meant to stifle your creativity, but they should be taken into account.
